SIA & Updates

Well its Thursday today and getting closer to next week... wait I have not told you yet what is happening next week! :)
I am off to Sydney to attend the SIA (Scrapbooking Industry Association) where I get to do some classes/ make and takes and network, to bring back even more ideas, projects,  products just for you! Cant wait....watch this space for my updates!
Whilst I am away classes will continue as normal, and thanks girls for holding the fort for me... you always do a great job

We are still experiencing problems with facebook and it not updating any blog entries... so appologies there, we are still trying to iron out the errors.

5 Big Boxes in today!

We had 5 BIG Boxes turn up from America Today, and there were grins all round I can tell you! :)  it was quite hard work unpacking it all, it took a lot of effort to oogle at all the new stuff we are out of breath! lol

SO what arrived?

Layout and a Cool Technique

Hi there

Thought I'd share a really cool and very easy technique using RW Laser Cuts Ebony Cuts and Glimmermist. I had a layout in mind and wanted to create a rusty wrought iron effect with my Ebony Cuts. SO all I did was give the two Whirlicious Ebony Cuts a couple of coats of Pumpkin Pie Glimmermist (allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second) and here is the result:



It really does look rusty and for very little effort!! I also used some gorgeous Kaiser Devonshire papers as well as some Fancy Pants paper from the brand new My Family range, some Prima flowers, a bit of hessian and the totally gorgeous picket fence border punch by Martha Stewart.

fabulous collage images

For all you ATC freaks like me out there,Simone has some fabulous collage image sheets in store. My current favourite is one called"Ancient Egypt' :an A4 sheet of lovely distressed faces,all with wonderfully evocative expressions that lend themselves beautifully to a range of techniques.The paper is smooth and a little shiny so I have successfully been able to use them for tape transfers as well as directly glued to paper.

The first 3 cards also use "found poetry" ie random words and phrases cut from a page of text and reassembled to form a poem of sorts.

The last was made for a swap called"ransom note" and uses letter cut from a junk mail catalogue-not all supplies are expensive!

ATC SWAP MEET

This coming Thursday (tomorrow 14 April 10)  We have our monthly swap meet at the shop,  its from 6 till 7pm, swapping starts at 6.30  sharp!   If u cant make it to swap, then send them in and we will swap them for you.  Its FREE to do this, there is no charge and you meet some great people, and its great to swap / share ideas and techniques.
The theme for this swap is 'The Great Adventure'  and the colour is Orange, with the technique being Transparent.   Ellie drew the short straw this time and that's what she choose.

So what has been happening?

We have been really busy again this week, which is fab, thats the reason why we are here :)  and once again we have had boxes delivered galore, we have almost got all of the new flower ranges out and ready to go, and I have to say they are just stunning......  we hope to load some of these onto the website once Michelle returns from her well earned break :)

-  I have completed the next  layout for next months 'Technique Trends class'  which will be held on the second Thursday of the month 6.30 - 8.30  or the 4th Saturday of the month 12 - 2pm  

This class has now replaced Page Maps on the Saturdays.  I have updated the newsletter and I will upload asap :0)  Here is a Sneeky Peak of May's Technique Tends pop by instore to check it out in the flesh!

TECHNIQUE TRENDS

Twice a month we offer a class called Technique Trends,  it is held on a thurs evening and saturday lunch time.  It's great if you want to know how to do something, or even learn some of the latest trends in scrapbooking, this month we will be playing with chipboard and lace, there are so many posibilities,  Here is a little sneaky peak of this month's class, give us a call and get booked in :)

Challenge for April

On Facebook we have a link for our monthly Challenge, but I would really like to open it up to our followers on Blogger, Twitter and the new Facebook page !!

Our Challenge this month is to create a Layout, an Artist Trading Card or an Off The Page Project using Tattered Angels Glimmermist or Tim Holtz Distress Ink !!
