A great time of year to start planning for all those christmas presents etc, and to maybe get one or 2 of them done ? well this year I have been super organised and started making albums for all my friends and family, and I thought I would share with you :)

On your sheet titled "santa claus" push out the piece as abov, then cut around the shape like below.
For now it is important to keep all the pieces you have cut out these may be used later on.
DONT THROW ANY PIECES AWAY

The white section with the Christmas medallion is your front cover


Now lets continue getting all of your other pages for the album together

I have cropped the edges of all the square pages using a Tim Holtz die : Brackets - Dont forget to keep those scraps for later on :)

I distressed all the edges of my pages

Ok so then with the front cover I cut out the medallion, so that I could relocate it slightly over on the cover. Then on the inside cover I placed some black cardstock.

The front cover was Glimmermisted with Red velvet a little Black gold, and when dry I edged with Blacksoot distress ink and the Galaxy Gold ink.

I picked up the excess glimmermist that was left on the mat with the inside cover.

Here is the back piece, in the picture it looks a little green, I added a tiny amount of forest green glimmermist.

The best way to get this effect is to spray your piece, cover with a paper towel and then roll over the top of it with a brayer.

Use a mini tree embossing folder to create your own embellies

I used the galaxy gold ink, and lightly rubbed it all over the embossed cardstock to bring out the patterned image.

Here is what I used when making the flowers and leaves used on the front cover, I stuck the canvas to Grungeboard before I ran it thru the cutting machine.

I painted the die cut canvas and grungeboard pieces with Gimmer Glam in Be Positive and Golden Goddess and the leaves in Glimmermist Forest Green. Then set them aside to dry. Once dry they were given a little distress stickles picket fence to give them that frosted look.

On the back cover I made 2 slits to create a feed for a ribbon that can be used to tie it all together to keep it protected.

This shows the back inside cover, now all you need to do is cover that piece with some cardstock or an embellishment.

Here is the back inside cover - the ribbon has been completely covered so you can't even see it :)

Then on the back cover outside i covered the ribbon slide with some velvet sticky backed trim, and a metal piece of holy that I saved from a christmas cracker one year.(waste not want not!)

I tied the album together with twine (making holes in each sheet and then threading through the twine or similar)

I then added some Grungeboard Hinges cut out of the Tim Holtz Hardware Findings die.

A quick share utilising as many Tim Holtz products as I can fit on one page ! nah only joking, tee hee
this was completed for a challenge over at Challenge Heaven that we are sponsoring this month, the title had to be "He/She's got the look"
So here is my share.

I have utilised a LUKE FLOURISH from FWAB sanded it a little to grunge it up, these are available in store click here.

I am loving Kaisercraft's May release, Party Animals and Chapter One, this month they have sticker sheets that really compliment the PP's. I have had a play with the Party Animals and here is my LO to share with you ! I have also used Dusty Attic Flags ... as pictured. I only needed a section of what was in the packet, which is great value : ) I have sponged Kaiser paint on them to give them a vibrant color !

I felt inspired today with the challenge site White With 1, and with a scrap space the size of your hand, I decided to give it a go! couldnt lay my hands on much so I focused on a technique instead. So here is my share!

An afternoon of Girl Time

To accommodate all the extra goodies I have from the shop we are in the throws of moving a door in my craft room, and consequently my house looks like a building site with a storage facility thrown in ! lol

My wonderful dad and long suffering hubby have been doing a grand job, and today they were finishing up all the hard work in prep for the decorating etc! :) My boys went off and did there own thing, and my Mum, an oil painter, decided she would rekindle her love of pen and ink drawing again, she hasn't had chance to do this for quite a few years!
So we both sat down, along with my daughter, listened to music and chatted whilst we created! how nice it was to create with my Mummy, my daughter and her Mummy! this has never occurred before, and an afternoon I am sure we will all cherish. Anyway I thought I would share what I did, the paper is so beautifully decorated already doing too much to it would just be sacrilege! I am so happy to be giving a little more time back to myself and my family. My Soul is very Happy :)
So here it is.

Rising Waters QLD

We have joined in on the Rising Waters QLD appeal to create a page for families affected in the floods.
If anybody took part in the Vic drive, you will recall, it was to create a layout that could easily have a picture added.

You can drop your completed layouts off at the shop and we will send them on as a combined effort.

In a few weeks I will be scheduling a day of scrapping where you can come along and complete some layouts, we will supply you with some quick effective idea layouts, and provide the product, you will need to make a payment to cover the materials and a donation towards the appeal. We do not aim to make a profit from this, all monies collected will be forwarded to the appeal, once material costs have been removed.

Let's all pull together SA just like we always do, we can do it again !

Seaside Range Scrapped !

Yesterday I popped in store and couldn't go past Kaiser's new Seaside range ! Got straight to scrappin last night and created this LO using it and also core'dinations Rustic. Thought I'd go out of my comfort zone on this one and actually took to the needle and threat : ) loved the effect, a little time consuming but definitely worth the effort !! I have also used vintage photo and spiced marmalade distress inks.

I am guilty of not actually producing much lately, but always seem to be stocking up lol !!

So, I decided to have a go at a sketch that inspired me at 'Flourish with a Bling', which we just happen to stock at Abundantias Gold !! I used the Grace Black Pearl Flourish, I have also used My Little Shoe Box, all a flutter & flying high papers, and also Fancy Pants Road Show Alpha Stickers and some lovely flowers found in store !

I have been going through some older photo's lately and found these great pics of my son Brayden now 10 and I from 2003, when we were lucky enough to live in South East QLD !

It is with great pleasure that I announce Helen Clifton as a new teacher with Abundantias Gold......

Helen has been a passionate scrap booker since first being introduced to the craft in 2001. She has taught Scrapbooking since 2005, and Card Making since 2008, imparting her knowledge and passion to many other crafter's, aided by her background as a teacher.

Helen is also a graduate of Creating Keepsakes University where she attended their first ever “CKU-Albums” event in Dallas in March 2005, and a CK convention in Nashville.

She relishes learning and sharing the many and varied card making techniques that continue to develop and flourish in the paper-crafting world.

Helen’s teaching style provides the opportunity to learn many different skills and techniques, and she is happy for students to follow exactly what she has done or teach them how to adapt and change their projects to suit colour and personal taste preferences.

Helen is excited to be joining our and is looking forward to sharing her love of paper-crafting.

Hey it's been a while so I thought I would share a 'Me' layout which I created using the September Sketch over at Dusty Attic. I have used the DA Flutterbies, Birds on a Branch and Wrought Iron Fence on this layout as well as some exquisite brand new 'Lost and Found' papers by My Mind's Eye. I just adore this range with it's pre-glittered papers and bits and pieces. Saves me getting out the glitter and doing it myself!! LOL If you haven't checked it out yet, why not head on in to the store and have a look. The whole range is so beautiful and suitable for feminine and masculine layouts...

So what is Glimmer Glam?

Glimmer Glam will offer the same beautiful color and AMAZING glimmer as Glimmer Mist, but will have a slightly transparent colour base, with added Glitters, to add to the depth of your crafting experience. Using a ridiculous variety of glitters, not only is the glimmer in the product cuomised, but so is the glitter! This will give crafters a multi-faceted and unique art medium to work with.

A weekend of Inspiration!

I had a rather rare weekend away this weekend, for the first time in a very long time I scrapped for one whole day and one night, and didnt move from my chair much other than to eat & sleep ! what BLISS!....

I made a rule not to create anything that would be for classes, and just do whatever I damn well pleased! :) lol...
I dug out some really old pictures, some as far back as 1995, and one 1875 (a copy of this one of course, the original is somewhere in the family!) and not necessarily the best quality either, but I just wanted to journal them, go back to basics and remember the reason why I started to scrapbook in the first place, I am no photographer, I just want to record history, to journal history and to pass on my stories to the next generation.

I have found more and more that in some cases, expectations in Scrapbooking now seem to be who can create the best piece of artwork, and there is some absolutely stunning pages out there.....but somewhere along the line, have we lost sight of what we are really doing? ............. for me it has been a gentle reminder, for me Scrapbooking is about unleashing my creativity whilst I record life, for my children and there chidlren, and there childrens children, and with my journalling capture the 'Soul' of the person scrapbooked, if you like, a life diary.
Anyway thought you might all like a look at what my weekend produced..... every page was a suprise, I didnt really have a plan of what I wanted to do, I just went with it, and let whatever creativity was in me come out....I removed all barriers holding me back, and just let it be..... I even did a boy page in purple with flowers! see it is possible to move out of the box! hahahaha

Up, Up and Away - Pt 2

Hey scrappy friends.

Here's a layout I created using another Kaiser Sketch from their FREE Workshop magazine. I took the photos recently after my sweet boy William had finished some icecream for dessert. Pretty sure at that point the sugar had taken effect. What do you thhink?? LOL

Have done lots of distressing and inking with TIM HOLTZ Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap, used a rub-on for the journalling spot, stamped some flourishes on some leftover patterned paper and added some chipboard buttons "tied up with string". There you go ATCers!! A little hint for the upcoming swap in August!!

...I've said it before and I'll say it again!! LOL I LOVE those Up, Up and Away papers. Although....wait till the Secret Bird Society collection hits the store. Pretty sure they are going to be my new favourites. Already have my order in with Simone (Don't forget Simone if/when you are reading this!! He he he)

Up, Up and Away!

Hi scrappers!!

Just wanted to share a layout with you that I did on the weekend...

I'm really loving those Kaiser Up, Up and Away papers right now. Not to mention the embellishments!!. I used a Dusty Attic Picket Fence on my layout and added a Tattered Angels Calling Card on top along with a couple of metal hinges. I cut that big circle from calico and frayed the edges. Then added a smaller pattern paper circle on top which I had distressed and inked. I finished it off by stitching the two together. Also stamped some hot air balloons onto the calico, cut them out and frayed the edges of those too. Had a paper measuring tape in my sewing kit which I tore into pieces and pasted about the page.

Mixing It Up with Kaiser

Hi scrappers!!

It's been awhile so I thought I'd better hurry up and share a layout with you all. It's not that I have been slack...,just busy!! Sorry!! I shall try to do better. I promise.

The layout I have to share is one I completed using a sketch from page 12 of the FREE KaiserCraft Workshop Magazine. First I had to get my head around using so many photos on the one layout!! Once I had chosen the photos it was just a matter of finding the right papers. I have found that you can easily match papers from various Kaiser Collections. You don't have to stick to just the one range for your layout. So for this one I chose some Le Chateau as well as some Devonshire and the gorgeous soft colours look really good together...

The mock flowers were made by cutting various size circles from Kaiser pattern paper. I distressed the edges of each with an edge distresser, then scrunched them up tightly, flattened out again slightly before layering together. Then I painted some Crackle Accents over the top using a paintbrush. Once they were completely dry and nice and crackly I topped each one with a Kaiser Up, Up and Away chipboard button which I had tied up with jute.

The leaves were created by stamping some Jungle Bug leaf stamps onto leftover scraps of Kaiser paper, scrunching them up, flattening out again and then painting with Crackle Accents as per the flowers. This gives them a lovely curled up look just like a real leaf.

I have also used the Up, Up and Away flourish stamp, stamped a few times onto Kaiser paper and then cut out the individual flourishes. I finished with a few stamped Up, Up and Away hot air balloons as well as the chipboard ones and some rub ons.

JULY ATC Swap Meet

This month we swapped on the theme of 'Cabaret', and here are some shares of a small sample of what we swapped.
Next Month August ATC theme will be " Tied up with String"  pulled from the theme box, this could mean so much what will your interpretation be? , so get them thinking caps on, remember a maximum of 8 cards to swap , but if you can only manage a few thats fine to.
If you cant attend in person you can send them in with a stamped addressed envelope and we will swap them for you and send your swapped ones back.
We are starting to get a few from interstate to swap each month now, and its great to see such a diversity in theme interpretations. So remember if you have a friend or someone who likes to ATC why not get them to send there's in and join in on the fun.     3rd thursday of each month.!    Thursday 19th August is the next one!
If you have an idea for a swap theme, why not write it on a slip of paper and drop it in our theme box next time you are in.

If The Wind Changes...

Hi scrappers

Thought I'd share a layout I made documenting my son's love of pulling faces whenever the camera is pointed his way. You've gotta laugh...

I really wanted to use product on this layout that would give the illusion of the wind blowing so I used some blue Tim Holtz Idea-ology paper which had some lovely subtle flourishes through it. The blue represents the colour of the sky too.

On top of that I layered the Raffle Leaf Hambly Screen Print. I just love the flourishes on that too to create the look of the wind blowing.

I have also added an RW Laser Cuts Scroll Branch with some leaves that I cut from some scrap paper I had in my stash. Again to create the look of wind some of the leaves are not attached to the branch so they look like they have blown loose.

I also cut a couple of hot air balloons from some Webster's Pages pattern paper and added some flower clusters to those. Check out the flourish lettering too. That's by Fancy Pants and my new favourite lettering!!

I love this Range,it has a great gothic look to it. If u have teenage boys or girls who aren't really run of the mill and into pretty pinks and frilly flowers then its great for them. Some stunning designs included. I love the Velvety feel of the Chandalier paper,and the iron gate is fantastic.

The new Creative Imaginations Breathless range has arrived ! Twilight inspired, and well you have to get in quick because I have eyed the whole range and have stolen some already! it wont last long....... U just have to check out the Gate Die Cut...... ohhhhhhhhh!

Inchies!!

I had the idea to post something a bit different today so I have put up some of my inchies.

these are usually traded by theme,the same way as ATC but of course are 1 inch square.

There is also a trade in "twinchies"-2 inches square, and "rinchies"-1 inch round but I am afriad I have none of these to show.

I have been amazed at how much art can be squeezed onto such a tiny space.

If inchies look to become your new passion,I would definitely suggest investing in a 1 inch punch to save all that cutting and to be sure of an exact size.

The little green ones I have used the fabulous perfect pearls powder on the background to give a nice subtle sheen....love me some perfect pearl goodness and am collecting colours...I think they give a lovely subtle shiny look. I also cut up an old vintage [circa 1965] Bambi comic for the images.

The pink ones were for a "day of the dead" theme and the hauses for -you guessed it-"haunted house-all of them have perfect pearls brushed onto the background.

They are really easy to use-just ensure you use a damp brush as they are activated with water,or if you use mod podge or gel medium to glue on your images just brush the pearls on before it is completely dry

I am a bit of a vintage stuff magpie,and haunt the local opshop/secondhand stores/markets for my supplies!!!!

Artsy Urban Layout

Hi scrappers

Today I thought I would share a layout I did yesterday using lots of gorgeous new stuff. Simone has lots of beautiful new product in the shop right now to tempt you with...it worked on me!! LOL

...So I used the GCD Studios Artsy Urban Book Page and Coloured Birds patterned papers on this layout. I actually used the reverse of the Book Page pp. and both sides of the Coloured Birds pp. I found that the white on the Coloured Birds pp was a little too stark for my layout so I softened it by rubbing in some Antique Linen Distress Ink. Also used Shabby Shutters, Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Inks on this layout.

Did you spy the red Bingo card? That was created with some red Bazzill and the brand new Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades Bingo and Patchwork set. Once I had embossed the Bazzill in the Cuttlebug I simply swiped some Black Soot Distress Ink over the top. These Texture Fades are definately a must have. I just LOVE them. Head into the store now to purchase yours but you better be quick because these babies will not stick around too long!! Think I will be investing in some more too!!

Other products I used on this layout include: October Afternoon Farm Fresh Wild Cards, RW Laser Cuts Ebony Cuts Scroll Corner, Prima Homespun Flowers, Jenni Bowlin Studio Embelllished Butterflies and My Mind's Eye Lush Flocked Alphabet. I also used a bit of red spotty fabric that I had in my stash.

Hi all

Thought I'd share with you a quick ATC I made yesterday...

The base of the ATC is some Kraft cut to size.

On top of that is a piece of white Bazzill on which I have stamped an image using Distress Embossing Ink and then heat set some clear UTEE. Next I rubbed in various Distress Inks with a sponge: Bundled Sage, Tumbled Glass and Tattered Rose. I inked around the edge with Victorian Velvet. (Aren't the names of the Distress Inks glorious? You can never have too many!! That's my motto anyway. LOL. Why not pop into the store and check out the extensive range of colours that Simone stocks. There's bound to be the perfect colour for you.)

Next I cut out an image from a Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage sheet. The edges of that were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then I applied Rock Candy Distress Crackle over the top. Once dry that was stuck down on top of the embossed and inked piece and the RW Laser Cuts frame added on top to highlight the main focus of the image.

I finished it off by simple adding a corner cluster of flower, leaves and a Heidi Grace stick pin. The quote was also cut from the Heartwarming Vintage sheet and the edges inked with Vintage Photo.

ATC Eye Candy!

here's a few more ATC to share. This time I thought I would include some that I have made experimenting with UTEE.

One of my favourite things to do is to heat distress layers on my ATC-Anything plastic that melts is fair game.

UTEE is one of my favourites as it gives such a nice thick colour blast to a card. Simone carries a range of colours -I think black, red and bronze are my favourites.

A lot of ribbons and trims are plastic/nylon and make lovely distressed accents if heated a little [or a lot!]. Tulle and nylon chiffon are particular faves of mine as they give a fabulous shredded look.They also look good layered and melted together with UTEE. Gold leaf flakes or glitter can also be added while still molten for additional detail. I think these cards make a nice change from purely paper ATC

If you decide to try these techniques,make sure you work in a well ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes.

Kaiser Le Chateau

Hi all, I have been having a play with the new Kaisercraft Le Chateau Collection, and thought I'd share my creation :

I'm loving these colours, I have rubbed 'Vintage Photo' distress ink almost everywhere, my inspiration came from one of the card examples in the Kaisercraft FREE MAG.

I have also been busy working on ATC's for the upcoming swap (due to be swapped 17th June), this months theme is 'Birds of a Feather'. You don't need to attend the swap night to be part, we welcome posted ATC's that will kindly be swapped for you and posted back.

In Love with Le Chateau

Hi scrappers

I had some fun on the weekend playing with the brand new Kaiser range Le Chateau. As soon as I laid my eyes on it I fell in love with the soft colours and birdcage images. It is so beautiful and there are some really gorgeous Wooden Flourishes that co-ordinate so well.

I used a Kaiser Sketch for this layout (check out the free Workshop Magazines for their sketches) and this is what I came up with....

....Aren't those colours just lovely? I wanted to keep the wood frame and the bird on a branch quite light in colour so all I did was apply Crackle Accents directly onto the raw wood. Once it was dry, I then rubbed in some Black Soot Distress Ink with a sponge and then buffed it just with some tissues.

The photos are of Hayley and Brenton in our hayshed.

Why not pay Simone and the girls a visit and check out this range for yourself. Be quick though because I've got a feeling this one is going to sell out fast!!

An ATC A Day - Day 11

Hi everyone

Here is today's little ATC featuring the RW Laser Cuts ATC Miniature Frame...

...I found a beautiful image of a fob watch on a Heartwarming Vintage sheet which gave me the idea to do an Alice In Wonderland theme ATC with a stamped image of the white rabbit. I used a Kaiser stamp applied to transparency for the large clock and the smaller one which was stamped onto cardstock. I rubbed Antique Linen Distress Ink into the cardstock clock face and then applied Crackle Accents to it as well as the vintage fob watch image. The Miniature Frame was sprayed with Tattered Leather Glimmermist and Crackle Accents applied to that as well. Then it was simply a matter of assembling all the pieces once they were dry.

Hope you like it! That concludes my Days of ATCs but I will be back soon with some more projects. More ATCs, a card, a layout....not sure what yet!! Will just go with the flow! LOL
